The history of the painting "speech of Emile Combes"

          In the French city of Auxerre, on September 4, 1904, was solemnly opened, "Taki." At this public ceremony attended by many politicians. The most significant political figure at the event, was chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Emile Combes, which gave the event a special pomposity. This event was marked by the famous speech of Emile Combes on the separation of church and state, which immediately became the focus of national news.
         In 1906, 12 June, the city council of the city of Auxerre, with the assistance of the Department of Fine Arts, it was agreed on the need to perpetuate this historic episode, through the establishment of the fundamental works of art.
         This mission was entrusted to the artist Emily Dej, whose work led to the admiration of the Mayor of Auxerre - Charles Syuryug (Charles Surugue) at the Paris World's Fair of 1900.
         Having this important order, Emily Dej held several talks with Charles Syuryug, during which it became clear that the future of the canvas to reduce the number of participants for this event so as to remain the most politically-exposed persons. As a result, it was decided to capture only forty-five.
          Before starting to work directly on the painting, pastel portraits Dej wrote each of the characters individually. In order to achieve maximum similarity, the artist has requested photos of all the actors of the future creation. Many political figures depicted on the canvas later, Emily Dej personally posed in her art studio.
           Fundamental work "Emile Combes It" size 252h130 see, was completed in two years - the third in March 1908 and is the seventh of March, was sent for display in city museum Auxerre.
           In the history of painting is the first time a female artist was given the mission to create a canvas by displaying it on a lot of political men in historical time. This fact gives an additional picture of historical significance.
