The main lot auction at Sotheby's Russian painting will Vereshchagin

In the upcoming Russian bid auction house Sotheby's will go under the hammer picture Vasily Vereshchagin "Pearl Mosque in Delhi," reports The ArtDaily. Cloth Russian painter is one of the most outstanding paintings of Indian artist series and will be the main lot of trades.

The auction includes gain for "Pearl Mosque" measuring 4 by 5 meters at least three million dollars. The picture was exhibited at the auction Museum of Contemporary Art in Boston, which will also provide seven paintings at auction of Impressionist and Modern.

According to the head of Russian Art Sotheby's Bekkerman Sonia (Sonya Bekkerman), "Pearl Mosque", a multifaceted talent Vereshchagin, who is known primarily as a painter of battle-pieces. Sotheby's Russian auction will be held on November 1. Starting from October 26, "Pearl Mosque in Delhi" will be exhibited at the exhibition hall at Sotheby's in New York.

At the latest Russian bid Sotheby's, which took place in April, was bailed out of $ 16 million.

Vasily Vereshchagin (1842-1904) after the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts in 1863 went to study in Paris, then traveled through Central Asia. In the early 1870s, the artist lived in Munich for a few years later went to India, where he returned in 1882-1883, respectively. We also have Vereshchagin "Turkestan" and "Palestinian" series of works.

My answer to Comrade Guriev , Igor ( a).
