Forchellino said that with him by e-mail contacted the owner of the painting, an American from Buffalo named Martin. When I saw the product of a restorer, he is in his own words, was speechless. Forchellino said that only a genius could draw a picture, and the genius of this was none other than the creator of the Sistine Chapel frescoes.

Art critic said that he was lucky to find documents proving the authorship of Michelangelo. The painting was created in 1545, and the first mention of it dates back to 1546 year, according to art. In closed Vatican archives, he found a letter in which Cardinal Reginald Pole (later - the last Catholic Archbishop of Canterbury) offers a picture of an Italian cardinal Ercole Gonzaga (Ercole Gonzaga).

X-ray showed that the plan of the artist changed during the operation, which means it does not copy, made by another artist, said Forchellino. His book "Lost Pieta" (La Pieta Perduta) is already out in Italy, and in 2011 will be published in the UK. In 1999 Forchellino already managed to discover an unknown work of Michelangelo - sculpture of Pope Julius II, the customer's frescoes in the Sistine Chapel.
