In the United States died widow of Isaac Babel
In the U.S. died Antonina Pirozhkova, widow of Isaac Babel, tells The New York Times. On the death became known by her grandson Andrew Malaeva-Babel. According to the newspaper, the widow of the writer was 101 years old. After retiring in 1965, she dedicated her life to fighting for the rehabilitation of her husband and for the preservation of its literary heritage.

Pirozhkova and Babel met in 1932 in Moscow. In May 1939, Isaac Babel was arrested on charges of anti-Soviet conspiracy. Next 15 years devoted Pirozhkova determine the fate of the missing husband.

In 1954 she received a death certificate. In the same year made Pirozhkova rehabilitation Babel.

Pirozhkova worked Metroproekte, has designed, among other things, especially the Moscow subway. In 1965 she retired and was engaged in the publication of her husband's legacy.
