The book discusses the reasons for the popularity of the Soviet realist art 1940-1980's. in the West. Read like a gripping detective story analysis of sites of western art galleries, offering a Soviet art, shows that a huge reservoir of national artistic culture had been transferred abroad in the 1990's. First Western buyers have moved purely commercial interests and then they surprise themselves "saw through" Russian realistic
painting and began to actively collect. In the West (Europe and USA) Our realistic paintings of that time has attracted not only the skill of execution which is based on the rich traditions and spirituality, but hidden in her pathos, optimism and hope for a better life, despite all the difficulties of everyday life. That optimism began to fade gradually after 1968 and virtually exhausted by mid-1980.
