Yale University Art Gallery , located in New Haven , is the oldest university museum of the United States , founded in 1832.
 Beginning of the collection put one hundred paintings by artists of the American War of Independence, donated by artist John Trumbullom .
The main gallery building , built in 1952, was one of the first works of the architect Louis Kahn , a graduate of the University .
