The exhibition of British artist William Turner from the collection of the gallery Tate Britain, which concluded its work today at the State Museum Pushkin Fine Arts (GMII), visitors to "take by storm," said at a press conference on Monday, the museum's director, Irina Antonova.
The exhibition "Turner. 1775-1851", in preparation of which, the British and Russian specialists spent a half years, includes some 130 paintings and graphic works, representing all major stages of the master's.
"The last week of the exhibition the museum has undergone because of the storm want to see the works of national pride in Britain", - noted the Antonov.
The museum, though not warming drinks freezing in a long queue of visitors, still went to meet them and extended the time of the museum from six to nine in the evening.
For its part, deputy director of the Pushkin Museum for exhibition work Zinaida Bonami shared statistics: three months of the exhibition saw 200 thousand spectators, mostly young people under 35 years.
"I do not explain the phenomenon of the success of this exhibition. Perhaps it is a huge emotional charge of the Turner painting itself, which many of our visitors want to see even more than once or twice," - continued the Antonov.
According to her, this exhibition marked the beginning of a partnership with Tate Britain: a few years in the Pushkin Museum to open exhibition of Pre-Raphaelites, and in the nearest plans - part of the British Museum in an exhibition dedicated to the art of Historicism.
