Robert Kombas (1957)

In 1979 Kombas created an art genre, later called "Free Image" ( "Figuration libre"), which included Remi Blanchard, Francois Boiron, Herve Di Rosa, and himself. It was a freedom-loving art, attentive to modern society, reagiruyuschiya its problems - violence, sexuality, etc.
This is how the work Kombasa critic and writer Demosten Davtas: "Painting Robert Kombasa nahzoditsya constantly in motion, like a living organism. His work is unthinkable without the presence of "other", ie the viewer. Between the viewer and the paintings Kombasa arises interdependence - they need each other. "Free izobrazhentie" - it is painting, which does not suppress any of their primitive instincts, nor his desire for culture.

First, my painting was to be called "fan art". It makes me reach them, because the "fan" - the English word. Actually, I never called his painting - in fact it did just me, but entered the Academy of Art, I began it's called "painting fan. And I call it "fun and exciting, actually, is the same. The exhibition "Down with beauty", organized in Paris, Bernard Lyamarsh-Vadel utverzhdaLyamarsh-Vadel decided that we should form a group - so it will be easier to become known. This was necessary in order to help other artists, because my case is going quite well. We then were quite unfamiliar with the artistic medium. The name "Free Image" came up with artist Ben, and all were happy to use it, it's a bit like some good advertising slogan ...

Dadaism, rough art, Negro art, naive art advertising art of Haiti, Africa, South America, Jamaica, poor art, culture rock art Aytsayderskoe (mentally), Picasso, Expressionism, Impressionism, comics - to mix it all and get Kombas, figurative, potomu that I live in a world of realities. But I think that the message coming from my painting in the abstract - a mixture of images, colors, imitations of Asian, Arab and South African writing, my paintings - is an attempt to create a universal language.
