Saryan's large family, following the tradition, lived a simple measured and patriarchal life on a lonely farm in the distance from the city. In 1901 he first went to Armenia. Saryan was there in many places: Lori, Shirak, Ani, Edchmiadzin, Haghpat, Sanahin, Yerevan, Sevan ... The impressions were indelible. Subsequently, the geography of travel is expanding: in addition to continuing in Armenia, he visited Constantinople, Egypt and Persia. World War I prevented the artist to see India and Japan.
