One of my favorite artists.
Zadorozhnyy worked in a coordinate system, quite different from that indicated by the ideology of the Soviet Union. Therefore, his canvases and monumental works (stained glass, tapestries) in times of stagnation, seen as a protest against the gray reality and pseudo-semi-official. Considering the value of which arose artist's work, it is easy to see that they fit the parameters of Ukrainian art of the sixties. The development of art in the Sixties largely stimulated the discovery of his, Ukrainian folk art. Sixties not imitated folk art. It was his subjective thinking and rethinking, especially since this was facilitated by the awareness of national identity. And yet it was a feature of the vision, so to speak, an ontological property. As in folk art, in works Zadorozhnogo dominate static, compositional variation, and that is especially characteristic, - the primacy given to the elements of color, which in itself is meaningful. But with national traditions coincides not only an aesthetic platform, but also the meaning, the purpose of creativity. His canvases fundamentally life-affirming. There Zadorozhnogo were two sources of creativity - iconography and pre-Christian worldview. Far from realism portrait painting Zadorozhnogo be called a modern modification of the painting. He modified the national iconography, is as close to the people's expression. This is evidenced by a frank and ornamental, rich color, the presence of ornaments created by our imagination, some compositional features. Like drevneukrainskih icon painters, the most beloved he is the image of the Virgin - "Orans", "Son, will enrich the world." Valentino Zadorozhnogo had a hard life. He was born July 7, 1921 in Rzhishchev the Kyiv region. Early left an orphan, and, fleeing from famine, went to Kiev. There, homeless, picked up and adopted by a compassionate family. Youth came in during the war, he was, miraculously survived. And returning to Kiev and seeking to draw, and graduated in 1951 in Kiev Institute of Arts (shop ARGET K. and A. Petritsky). The first decade of his work was regulated by the method of socialist realism. But in the early 60's was a miracle - Valentine Feodosievich breaks sharply with the previous creation, burning almost all of its previous work and becoming a new path that had brought him recognition, but became his godfather because of persecution for his work and beliefs.
