There is a picture by German portraitist Nataniel Ziehel.
That's actually like to find out is whether the real value of this work, and what kind?.
At work, there is only a signature.
N. Ziehel, year unknown.

Guriev , Igor, I just had some questions about its authenticity , but visiting a museum employee (judge ) ( question of evaluation was not) expert on "words " provided information to ponder , assuring that the work is consistent with technology of the time in which the artist lived .

Carefully examined under a lens , paper glued on the small canvas, and covered with varnish.

Previous owner of this work argues that this picture of her grandmother bought another in 1914.

Should I invest in the restoration and the official examination ?

Stuart, the correct name is written as an artist : Nathaniel SICHEL (1843-1907).
Indeed much like a reproduction, though not a fact.
Take a decent photograph , say the lips or eyes in the portrait of him can be accurately say a painting or a reproduction.
If this painting:
Formal examination is not necessary, it is not accepted at this level , and , and so everything is clear.
Should I invest in the restoration ?
No, of course , can be cleaned and not fact.
