Joseph I. Bokshay - painter of light art, who has devoted his life and talent. Soulful and sly, I. Bokshay still admire the picturesque way the society of his native land - Transcarpathia.

BOKSHAY Iosif I. (1891 - 1975)

Born Oct. 2, 1891 in Glade s.Kobyletskaya Rakhiv district, Transcarpathian region.
In 1914 he graduated at the Budapest Academy of Fine Arts.
Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1948.
Honored Artist of Ukraine (1951).
Member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1958).
People's Artist of Ukraine (1960).
People's Artist of USSR (1963).
Together with A. Erdely organized the first art school in the Carpathian region.
He died in 1975 in Uzhgorod, Transcarpathian region.
