People's Artist of Russia (1998).
In 1951 he graduated from the Moscow Higher School of Industrial Art, where he studied under Pavel Kuznetsov and Alexander Kuprina.
Since 1958 worked with the magazine "Murzilka."
Illustrated more than 300 children's books, including Ya.Akima, A.Aleksina, T.Aleksandrovoy, A.Barto, I.Tokmakovoy, T.Belozerova, V.Berestova, V.Bianki, E.Veltistova, Gaidar, B . Dragoon, B.Zahodera, S. Marshak, Mikhalkov, A.Mityaeva, E.Moshkovskoy, S.Saharnova, R.Sefa, G.Tsyferova, J. Rodary, Astrid Lindgren,
Italian writers of fairy tales, folk tales Chinese, Russian
folk tales.
The author of books for children, "Mishin gem", "Wonders of the Lord" (2010)
collections of poems "Dog Dream" (1998), "The eyes of insomnia" (2008)
book-album "Mock walks of Moscow" (in 2009 it was awarded a special prize in the "Book of the Year"). In 1980, the artist included in the list of honorary HC Andersen. In 1984 received a gold medal from the Government of the Yemen Arab Republic for a series of
work on the YAR in 1985 - a gold medal at the BIB in Bratislava for his illustrations for the book O.Proyslera "Krabat" in 1988 - an honorary diploma HC Andersen for his illustrations for the book I.Tokmakovoy "Carousel."
