He studied at the School of Painting , Sculpture and Architecture (1892-1898) , at the Moscow V. Serov , KA Korovin , AE Arkhipov. Life member of the Salon d'Automne , a member of the Union of Russian Artists (1903 ), the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (since 1925). Participated in exhibitions of the Association of the Wanderers (1900 ), the Moscow Association of Artists ( 1900), "36 Artists" ( 1902), " The World of Art " (1903 , 1906) , the Union of Russian Artists ( 1903-1923 ). He taught at a private art school (1900-1918) , the Academy of Arts (1938-1939), Moscow State Art Institute (1952-1955). The main artist Maly Theatre ( 1944-1947) . Doctor of Arts ( since 1941) . Member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR ( 1947). People's Artist of the USSR ( 1950).
