Futuristic library" the Eye of Tianjin Binhai" Tianjin (China).
the five-storey library was designed by Dutch firm MVRDV, in collaboration with the Institute of urban planning and design Tianjin city. It is located in the cultural district of Binhai and is called the" Eye of Tianjin Binhai". The main atrium of the building is in the shape of an eye with a huge glowing sphere in the center.
On the area of 34 thousand square meters is located a large reading room, a spacious library, lounge-зоны, offices, meeting-залы, computer rooms and audio room. At the same time, the library may contain up to 1.2 million books.
the Building was completed in three years, and not all plans have been realized in time. Initially it was assumed that all the shelves-террасы will be filled with books available to readers. But-за haste from this had to be abandoned, and the result on the top shelf there are no books that I had to replace the plates with the image of multi-colored roots.
