Kasteev Abylkhan (1904-1973)
The artist, whose name is called The State Art Museum RC

January 1, 1904, was born first National Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Abylkhan Kasteev, whose name is called The State Museum of Art. Kasteev born in the area Jarkentskaya Taldykorgan field in the big family of the poor herdsmen. Fate has been kind to him, but at the same time strict and lifelong learning. Early lost his father, the young Abylhanu almost eight years had to work hard. First in his native village - a shepherd, then Dzharkent - laborer, and later in the construction of Turks-ba.

At that time he was barely twenty-three. A young, inquisitive, energetic and creative energy, Abylkhan combined work with the painting. Every free minute he enthusiastically draw, pencil sketches for future paintings. With Turksib began his career. Much later, in 1969, according to his memoirs, he wrote a massive canvas "Turksib" - a work in which each piece is filled with a sense of ineffable joy. It is executed with great love and appreciation at the time. Large format allows you to describe a memorable event in the lives of people living in the country itself - the first train arrived.

So, in 1929 at the request of employees Turksib Abylkhan moved to Almaty (at that time - the city is true). Within two years Kasteev enrolled in an art studio Nicholas Khludov Gavrilovic, who arrived in Kazakhstan from Russia in the ethnographic expedition. It finds new friends, whose names are now entered into the history of Kazakh art. Here he made his decision - become a painter. Then - in Moscow, where he spent two years. Kasteev acquainted not only with the Russian national school of painting, but also with the art museum, which displays masterpieces of world art. Of course, it left an imprint on his future work. After returning home he took part in exhibitions of urban, Republican and All-Union significance.

Abylkhan Kasteev worked in various genres and with different material. In this paper, pencil, he is always fond of the line and follow her exciting events passed the viewer and, therefore, described by the artist. He has no generalized patterns, all of them are covered with small and large groove, subtle and dense lines. That's the line here sets the depth and arranges space. Kasteev called "the honest artist" because he never lied to the audience, he did not rule out the details of his work, even if it violated the composition, and therefore did not add anything extra on my own. Only one product Kasteev admits "fraud". In "Cotton picking", where the foreground shows the toiler, Kasteev puts the piece of agricultural machinery for cotton picking. Such a machine, of course, exists to this day, it was just a fantasy dream to help people, to ease his hard work.

And yet he chose watercolor. Masterfully wielding the color, he worked in watercolors like a sculptor, for smear smear space by building works. Among the watercolor works exhibited at the museum retrospective exhibitions, special attention should be paid a series of "Old and new life." It reflected the national traditions, customs, ceremonies, daily life, as well as new developments century. These are the work of "Courting bai", "The poor and rich at the well" or "New life farmer." Watercolor landscapes enchant the audience with its sincerity and love for their land. Even small-format paintings are enormous in terms of content.

In the hall of paintings - two deserve special attention. This is the "Portrait of Imanov" and "abduction girl." For portrait Imanov in 1944 Kasteev was awarded national artist, he was awarded the Diploma of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR. "Abduction girl" art is rightly called a masterpiece. The artist even gave the character and mood of each character, portrayed the true life. The tragedy highlighted the skillful use of color palettes in the dark and complex tones. It becomes painful and frightening for her.

Abylkhan Kasteev died in 1973, leaving behind a huge artistic heritage, carefully preserved in the collections of the State Arts Museum, the Central State Museum, the Museum of Oriental Art (Moscow), in private collections and personal archives of the family. Each piece - it's people's history, the history of Kazakhstan's paintings, which together with the first Kazakh artist now turned 100 years old.
