Konstantin Korovin was born in Moscow on December 5, 1861 to a wealthy merchant family of Old Believers. His father, Aleksey Mikhailovich graduated from the University, and his mother came from Apollinaris I. Volkov kind of nobility.

At fourteen years old Konstantin joined the architectural department of the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, after two years of study went to the painting department. He studied under Alexey Savrasov Kondratyevich.

To complete the formation of Korovin went to St. Petersburg and entered the Academy of Fine Arts, but after three months away from there, disappointed in there the teaching methods.

In 1888 and 1894 Korovin made a trip to the north with a friend Valentin Serov. During this period, there are his works as "The harbor in Norway", "Brook St. Tryphon in the Pechenegs," "Hammerfest. Northern Lights, "" Murmansk coast. "

After the October 1917 revolution in Russia Korovin actively engaged in conservation of works of art, organizing exhibitions and auctions in favor of the liberated prisoners, also continues to work with the theater. In 1923 the artist went abroad and settled in France.

Konstantin Korovin died in Paris on 11 September 1939.
