Otmar Valerian I.
(1858-1908)

Born in a large family in the village Borisoglebovke Chernigov district. Father, an Austrian citizen, Joseph Adalberglav Otmar, gardening.
In 26 years Valerian adopted the Orthodox religion. He graduated from the Kiev class figured Drawing School. Since 1885, he was appointed auditor in the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts, studied in classes of plaster heads and figures, full-scale and full-scale pictorial.
Council of the Academy Otmar awarded four silver medals. In 1892 he was promoted neklassnogo artist with the right teaching painting and drawing in secondary schools. VI Otmar was a member of society "Myussarovskie Mondays.
From 1891 to 1899 years, he created 29 cartons for mosaic Church of the Resurrection. The funds of the Russian Museum preserved his work "The Adoration of the Magi" (1897), "The Dream of Joseph, before they fled to Egypt" (between 1891 and 1898), "Candlemas" (1898) and "Christ in the synagogue" (between 1891 and 1898).
In 1904, Otmar painted Orthodox Cathedral in Warsaw, designed by L. Benois in the early 1900's. Under the leadership of Vasnetsov worked with him VV Belyaev, NA Koshelev, NN Kharlamov, NT Shakhovskoi and others. The temple was destroyed shortly after the First World War.
In 1909, Otmar appealed to the President of the Academy of Fine Arts, Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna, a broker with an application to obtain a monetary benefit for their work for the Savior on Spilled Blood. However, all the calculations for the construction of the temple was completed, and the artist in his request was denied.
