World AIDS Day (World AIDS Day) first celebrated on December 1, 1988, after a meeting of health ministers of all countries there was a call for social tolerance and the exchange of information on HIV /AIDS. UNAIDS supports the long-term global project to prevent HIV infection and AIDS and helps the fight for human rights regardless of HIV status, provides assistance to countries around the world through education on prevention, support for research on HIV /AIDS and work with programs to enhance international front HIV /AIDS.
World AIDS Day became an annual event in most countries. Although the December 1 is defined as the date for the Day, in many communities organized several events in the weeks and days before and after the official celebration.
