About 250 thousand years ago on Earth, a new type of ancient people - the Neanderthals. It was a tough burly - dense, low (average 160 cm), muscular men with receding forehead, thick eyebrows and large cranial capacity than modern man. Neanderthals perfected the technique of processing stone tools, were skilled hunters and were even able to live in the era of the great ice age. They already existed beliefs, customs and rituals, they buried the dead and care for the elderly, creating primitive jewelry.

About 30 thousand years ago, Neanderthals disappeared, and the earth was a kind man - a man of understanding.

The opening, marked the beginning of a study of mankind took place in 1856 in a cave in the valley Feldgofer Neandertal (Germany). For the extraction of limestone were found there a strange bones, which originally took over the remains of cave bear. However, a local teacher, Johann Karl Fulrot, seriously addicted to natural history, at once determined that a man's bones, and more ancient than any known to science at that time the inhabitants of Europe. Some scholars have supported the view Fulrota, but the majority (in fact it took place three years before the publication of "Origin of Species ..." Charles Darwin) denied the existence of man in such a distant past. Who just not attributed to the bones - an elderly immigrants from Holland, the mentally handicapped person, suffering from rickets and arthritis, "Mongoloid Russian Cossacks, who in 1814 during the war with Napoleon was wounded, crawled into the cave and died."

Just a few decades, new found skeletons with similar features led skeptics to acknowledge the opening Fulrota, and Neanderthal man was finally approved in the "right" person.

Since the discovery of Neandertal was 155 years. During this time, it was found more than 300 remains of these ancient people, excavated many sites, where they lived. With the latest advances in chemistry, physics, paleogenetiki could learn a lot about their structure, anatomy, lifestyle, however much the Neanderthals were still a mystery ... But perhaps the two "Neanderthal" of the problem is most interested in not only academics, but and all the curious people: if we have their genes, and why, having existed on earth 180 000 years, this kind of man extinct.

The exhibition devoted to this ancient people, you can learn about where, when and how they lived, to see the casts of fossils, the plastic and graphic reconstruction tools that they made the objects of the hunt, as well as learn about the latest discoveries in the field study of Neanderthals. And in the end you can vote for the most logical hypothesis extinction of Neanderthals.

It was excavated in 1987 under the guidance of V. Hovhannisian.
4 . The complex of Nerkin Naver includes ritual structures of the early stage of the Middle Bronze Age: a necropolis, walls, caves, also cultural layers of the period of the Van Kingdom (7th - 6th cc. BC).

White marble statue depicts a muscular man leaning on a big bat, wrapped in a lion's skin , and , apparently , was a copy of the famous statue of the Greek hero. Finding has great value, Israeli archaeologists say . Presumably, Hercules adorned marble pool in the complex of Roman baths , discovered during excavations. We found no statues head .
