Nine mysteries unknown paintings by Tintoretto
In the UK exhibited a previously unknown painting by Tintoretto, one of three major artists of the Venetian Renaissance, reports The Independent. Cloth Apollo and the Muses "the first time.
In 1849 he became a collector William Banks (William Bankes); in 1981, bought the painting Fund National Trust, however, all 30 years it was kept in storage, as it is in poor condition. In addition, it was unknown author - Banks initially suspected that it was Tintoretto, however, evidence that was not. The correctness of this version of the specialists were able to verify until 2010 during the restoration, which cost 36,000 pounds. Nevertheless, the restoration not only shed light on the picture, but also put the nine questions about its content and meaning. They are in the form of a convenient scheme presented on the website of the newspaper The Guardian: (http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/interac...rt-restoration). For example, critics are not sure of the name of the picture, under which she was known in the XIX century. The main character may not be the Apollo, god of marriage Hymen. Near depicts a girl, presumably the bride, but it is unclear who she was and what a plant it and Apollo Hymen hold in their hands. It is also unclear to whom the ancient god lays a wreath on his head. X-ray revealed that the original artist drew the character as a semi-naked boys, but then made it a more dressed, but his floor - less obvious. Presumably, this is a poet - in the hands of his book, but its significance is also unclear. Confusion caused by researchers and two pairs of girls in the foreground. One of the girls for some unknown reason, wears a crown. Another, addressed to the audience back, may be Fortuna. In one of the characters with 100-percent probability of Heracles learned - but what he does in the picture is unclear. It is suggested that the "poet"-fiance may be the son of Heracles Gill, who marries a former lover of his father Iole. In addition, it is not clear symbolic significance of some items in the picture - in addition to the book is a gold utensils and coins under the feet of God (this could mean a contempt for material values) and the dice with five points on them. For some reason I immediately thought that the painting depicts members of one family (of a community?), And all the allegory in any way refer to their relationship.
Accordingly, all the "strange" attributes does not quite mythological character. Perhaps it refers to specific events, known to family members, or their personal qualities. Ie I would not be looking here strict compliance with the mythological plot; and if we assume that the heroes of myths represent specific people, the existence of several characters "from different operas" is understandable. |

In my humble opinion, custom painting and what it meant a great lord or protector of the gift ... This can be judged by how would random selection of ancient gods .. Heracles (the figure on the left at the top with a club in his right hand and a bow in the left, in a cloak of skins nimfeyskogo lion) represents strength, power ... Apollo (the patron of the arts) is given the bay wreath on the head of the poet (?).. girl turn their backs to the viewer with a cornucopia, likely depicts Fortuna, the goddess of fortune. (horn symbolizes abundance and prosperity, and is an attribute of Gay, Fortune, Plutus and the other gods ...) And at the bottom of a girl (goddess) in the tower's crown at the foot of a young man and supporting him ... And finally the poet himself (?) youth with a book ... The central figure in the painting (lord?) ..
