The festival began with the exhibition-contest "The Art of the modern sewing" in the city of Ivanovo, as the All-Russia Biennale, taking place since 1997. In the framework of the VII All-Russia festival of Decorative Arts' patchwork mosaic of Russia "were conceived and carried out numerous exhibitions and art events. More than 800 works of authorship were sent to the competition from 167 cities of Russia. The diversity and artistic quality of works presented in the competitive displays, suggest a high level of development of this type of decorative art, grew up "from needlework to art."
The first stage of the competition took place at five museum-exhibition venues in the city of Ivanovo and the Museum of Furmanov Ivanovo region, the second exhibition stage VII-th All-Russia festival of Decorative Arts' patchwork mosaic of Russia - in Moscow.
The exhibition in the gallery "Belyaevo" represents the best prize competitions work. The exhibition includes the works awarded the Grand Prix competition, presented by "Quilt Club" from St. Petersburg, LH Bezrukovo from the city of Ufa, and AY Snegovskaya from Moscow. Also at the exhibition you can see the work of the winners and the works have received incentive certificates and a special prize of the Governor of the Ivanovo region.
