Yuri Medvedev - an artist whose creative credo, scenic preferences, indeed, the very mode of existence in art emerged in the sixties, by and with the other artists and poets arefevskogo circle: A. Arefiev, V. Nekrasov, A. Grigoriev, etc . Being an architect by training (specialist in industrial architecture) it since 1960. parallel in painting, through which realizes its vision of the world. At first glance, it seems that his paintings and drawings are the complete opposite of the architecture, which he designed in the style of constructivism 60 - clearly and firmly incised rectangular volumes, formulated in the then fashionable language neobrutalizma. Indeed, in the paintings almost no proper architectural forms, dominates man and nature, but they are, the data outlined vividly and concretely exist in a dense composite-rich environment of tectonic origin. High-volume, large relief forms are designed in very bright colors, allow the artist to speak generally, the active use of the language of metaphor, plastic characters. Thus, even the most lyrical, everyday topics he did not sound corny, but by force is powerful, almost monumental, partly in line with the romantic, existential and dramatic pathos sixties.
His teacher Yu Medvedev said N. Griţuc, Novosibirsk famous master whose paintings truly European level has helped him learn the lessons of the outstanding artists of the XX century.
