In 1918 - after receiving a bachelor's degree (matriculation) moved to Paris where he enrolled in the Academy Julian, but six months later decided to work independently. At this time he talked to Suzanne Valadon, Felix Lasko, Max Jacob, Charles-Albert Chingria, Raoul Dufy.
1920-21 - a trip to Algeria. Period of interest to oiterature and music.
1922 - studio visits Andre Masson.
1923 - znaklomstvo with Fernand Leger, meeting with Juan Gris Gallery Kanvaylera.
1924 - reflection on the role of culture. Doubts about its fundamental values. Stops to paint, the interruption lasted for 8 years.

1943 - a series of "Metro". Interest in jazz. A trip to Limburg, where he met with Jean Poanom, who introduced him to Pierre Segers, Paul Eluard and Jean Fotrie.
1944 - first solo exhibition in a Paris gallery Rene Druena, which caused much controversy in artistic circles. The first lithography.

1945 - Exhibition of lithographs in the gallery Andre. Understanding Henri Michaux. Trip to Switzerland, where he studies the "brutal, primordial art» (art brut). Dubuffet coined the term to define the art of unprofessional artists working outside the norms of non-artistic circles who have turned to creativity as a result of certain social or psychological trauma - mental patients, prisoners, or simply children. Cycle "Urlup. Publication of texts on the original art.
