The project was implemented for the grant of the President of the Russian Federation to support the creative projects of national importance in the field of arts and culture.

Yaroslavl Art Collection, the largest art museum of the Russian provinces, consists of more than 70,000 works of XIII-XXI centuries. A significant part of the collection - the art of XX century. For objective reasons section of the exhibition, representing the period, missing since 1987. At first this was due to refurbishment of the main museum building, and then with an active exhibition policy of the museum, which requires display space.

Collection XX century art began to take shape in the Museum since its inception (1919) and continues to grow to this day.EV Moiseenko, A. Slepyshev; significant collection systems, in particular, the classical avant-garde, represented by the names of VV Kandinsky, AA Exter, O. Rozanova, IV Cluny, SY Adlivankina; artistic heritage - M. Sokolov, P. M. Kondratyev, A. Korsakov, M. B . Ayzenshtada, which allow to study the peculiarities of the author the way in the context of general trends of twentieth century art, works by local artists, revealing aspects of the artistic culture of Yaroslavl.

The project is separate landmark museum's collection, writing them in the context of the artistic process of the twentieth century. The authors propose a new model of exposition and fairgrounds in a confined space, using special equipment - sliding mobile structures, plasma display panel, allowing the most efficient work with a collection of twentieth century art. The project introduces a permanent exhibition revolve complexes of painting, sculpture, graphics, video material that will provide viewers access to a little-known parts of the collection.

The main exhibition is composed of a number of approved products. It works by masters of Russian vanguard, Socialist Realism, the official and the alternative of Soviet art. Against the background of exchangeable units extend the overall picture, reveal new aspects of art and creativity of artists. The selected method of exposure allows you to see and appreciate each author in the context of the era. In the premiere exhibition in the context of a retrospective show presents the most important masters who gave Yaroslavl of the twentieth century: MK Sokolov (1885-1947) and AK Petrov (b. 1957).

Mobile in time and space innovation project "Art of the XX century" answers specifics of contemporary visual perception, opening the prospect of an active representation of assembly of the Yaroslavl Art Museum of the general public.

Partner of the Museum in the manufacture of equipment made by the firm "Special Project", part of a group of companies "Rarity" (St. Petersburg), with which the Yaroslavl Art Museum bind long creative relationship.
