BERMAN Eugene (Eugene) Gustavovich November 4, 1899 (St. Petersburg, in some sources - Moscow) - December 22, 1972 (Rome) Painter, graphic artist, set designer Grew up and was educated in St. Petersburg. In the early 1950's had lived in Italy, in 1956 settled in Rome, where he continued to write fantastic landscapes with ruins. In 1956, released in New York album of drawings "imaginary stroll through Italy." Held a solo exhibition in Buenos Aires (1950). Since 1964 - Member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Berman is one of those masters of the so-called "Russian emigre, whose work has become better known it is in Europe and America than at home. He is one of the founders of the neo-romantic style of art, which had as its aim the revival of interest in figurative painting.
