- Is there such a thing as self-esteem. In the artistic life of Odessa as you see your place - in the top ten in the top five?

- This is a provocative question. Long time, maybe already 20 years ago, the House of Scientists once we met, there was talk of art, Odessa. This period was a very expressive. Was Yegorov. Was there Khrushchev - can not remember, is not the case. And there were, remember Sasha Anufrieva, recalled that period. And I remember, as I said - for some reason I was such a thesis. - I was influenced by the artist Yakovlev. I was so right I say: no direction, and Vladimir Yakovlev. That's the idea of abstract art, he came from. Because, basically, when I touched the abstract art, I realized: this is the real thing for an artist. - Were you a teacher? Not in the school sense, but as a master, as artists. You have already called Muscovite Yakovlev, and Odessa?

- I can not name specifically. Of Odessa can only say - Strelnikov Anoufriev ... Well, of course, Egorov, too. - I agree. Egorov and Khrushchev really deserved. They are very opposite. Simply amazing - in concept and in relation to the life and art. In general, Odessa - a young city, a young art. But there is a subtle combination of an artificial environment with the natural environment. - How would you explain what the contemporary art that is contemporary art?

- Is the Odessa Art province? Is Ukraine artistic province? If yes, then where is the center?

- In the Ukrainian borders can say, perhaps, but within the boundaries of something more difficult for me to speak. Because nowhere on it does not get to. You see, years ... We're not talking, all of 70 years, we say, for example, in the late 20's art here has evolved on other bases, in other paradigms, at another level. And the art, western, it mastered yet no visual way, and generally, there it was constantly in motion. Simply we have here a huge unfilled niche remained. And what we are doing now, to some extent, society accepts and does not say that it is outdated, it already was. Because there is a need, and I think that this niche art of Ukraine should be filled. Just like the art of Odessa, I also think the gap should be filled.

- Market valuation of the artist at auction determines whether you have the significance of the artist?

- No, definitely not. I can not say about Western artists, I can not say. But as it starts to happen again now with us, there is here in this topic. As far as I've seen in the auction catalog of relevant operations and price - can not agree, to be honest.

- In 2009, when, where were you to sell your work?

- Until I heard a rumor such that one of my very old works, the very old, which lay 30 years in the Union of Artists, and when it revealed the bins, looking for work to pay for repairs, found. In general, it was somewhere in Moscow at some auction. I do not know it was purchased or not, because she does not belong to me, and I'm here in any way the price should not be.

- Forecasts thing unreliable, and yet necessary. Do you think that will evolve as an art? Towards an abstract? In the direction of figurative? Or even go in the direction of, say, the pageant - the installation and so on and so forth?

- It's not that complicated, but how would unproductive response. Because we have already, maybe 20, maybe 30 years, and we assume expected. Back in the 60's we thought too. But it was a specific situation. And about the fine arts, trying to cover it all, as far as I know, it's hard to catch the trend. These trends like "Contemporary", they do exist, and in Western art there. I mean not only them. And abstract art, and teatralizovannost, and everything goes, the more the theater looks like. And anyway, painting as it loses its specific inherent in her face. There are so hard to tell whether this refers to a painting, or is it already applies to some, well installation ... - Does the policy on your creativity?

- No, not affected. Rather, it affects such a spiritual camp. We experienced no wonder that this ... We were all pretty ... - How long do you feel an artist?

- Somewhere in the 63-meter ... no, in the 61 th, I arrived here in Odessa, and never studied anything - no school, nothing. And when I came here, there were very prepared guys. Finished art school ... So like at this school I felt so confident. Just because that's the group, Shura Anufriev when we immediately began to engage in creative work, understand that this is all, and immediately have a first-rate work. And yet, I'm in the 61 th year, in my opinion, has decided to throw it all in and go swimming. I wish ... I think I may take a sailor. I wanted terribly to see the world. - Do you think that your creative expression today affect on society? What do you do, your manner of writing, your work is already in some way affect the viewer?

- It should be strongly untwist themselves, their exhibition to this effect. And since I have never to this, in fact, did not seek, and that popularity - it is simply the best of my efforts is weak. So I doubt that there are special students, special audiences. If possible, I can show their work, not more.

- Do students, followers?

- Do not feel. I think not.

- In Odessa, disappeared a professional art critic. Do it for you?

- Need for me and, moreover, all of us. It is absolutely necessary. So I recently heard a radio transmission about Marcel Proust. Said the woman, in general, a connoisseur, she studied in France. And that's what it says: that Marcel Proust complex writer. A huge array, you can tell, he wrote. He is now in France, in fact, the measure of all. This is a time when very little reading. And all this has made the criticism. Because it constantly, insistently she explained the meaning created by him. And the result - his constant presence in the cultural space. Same with artists. So I think it is absolutely necessary.

- There is a wizard, which is most important medium, subculture. There is a wizard for which is most important focus, communicating with the book. Which group would you think about yourself?

- I think something, and another is needed. Because it is necessary provocation. I can not tell you about others, each in different ways, but as if you were not confident in their abilities and their opportunities for inspiration, yet the constant focus on yourself extinguishes receptors that we have. Because you have to see, hear. This is often enough to be excited and start working. Do not artists must necessarily surround you, but communication is necessary.

- 3.5 What books you read in 2009, which made a strong impression?

- French artist, composer and poet Jean Cocteau. Read his essays, articles on art. Simply luxurious. I knew him very long, but not read.

- Do you want the Union of Artists? Is not it time to unite in a creative group of practicing some principles and to coalesce around, let's specific galleries? Or is it needed in the Artists' Union, the Soviet model?

- You know, to destroy - not to build. I think we've had all sorts of destruction and it is not always ended good. Can be painful, this is acceptable. To construct there something in return? There are no guarantees. Group - it was good. But it may be in the middle of the Union. And yet the Union that I think is important, there is a tradition, a Soviet tradition. It is a tradition, as it were contacting the state and us, not even as artists and as a community like this. Well, there is the same mechanics, there is a turner. Well, there are artists - we are 200 people here in Odessa. They have specific problems, specific proposals ... I understand how to aggression - that is where the bureaucratic apparatus, because the artists do can not get together, can not agree about anything. And at least some commonality. - Which of the galleries in Odessa, in Ukraine, do you consider yourself a close-minded? Is there such a gallery?

- I have so little in galleries ... I do not have anything like a loved one. Well, here Dymchuk, but then how to say, he made a series of exhibitions, and pleased that there was a situation of purely architectural and very nice. Picture is good, because it's still a small space, it's not a lot of work is what brings to the viewer.

- The artist - not a prisoner workshop. Are there any contacts with artists, musicians, poets?
