Francisco Pradilla Ortiz Pradilla Francisco Ortiz (July 24, 1848 - November 1, 1921) was a prolific Spanish painter, a painter of historical scenes.
He was born in Villanueva de Gállego, near Zaragoza in Aragon, and studied in Zaragoza and then moved to the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando de Acuarelistas and the Academy in Madrid. In 1873, won a trip to Rome pension. From there, he had the opportunity to travel to France and Venice and studied the old masters. In 1878 he presented a copy of the work of Doña "Joanna of Castile" to the National Exhibition in Spain and received the Medal of Honor. Spanish Senate then authorized him to write La Rendición de Granada (Granada Holiday) (1882). In 1881 he became director of the Spanish Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, but left the post after two years of work. Travelled mainly in Italy, portraying local themes and portraits. In 1897 he returned to Madrid as director of the Museo del Prado, but the focus was on his paintings.
Pradilla Francisco Ortiz has written more than 1 000 paintings, showing interest in a variety of subjects and styles, often without regard to current fashion.
He especially recognized for his historical paintings, the latest 1910. And basic, with a long name - Cortejo del bautizo del Príncipe Don Juan, hijo de los Reyes Católicos, por las calles de Sevilla (Suite Don Juan's son at Baptism of the Catholic monarchs in the streets Seville).
 He died in Madrid in 1921 at the age of 73 years.

Fernando Alvarez de Sotomayor (born El Ferrol, September 25, 1875 - died Madrid, 17 March 1960)
Alvarez de Sotomayor at age 10 was the only person who painted the portrait of King Alfonso XII on his deathbed (figure is still owned by the artist's family) and Hoddy the courses of philosophy and literature in Madrid. From 1953 to 1955 he was Director of Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando.
