And in the XIX century. a humble fishing port into a fashionable resort, attracting wealthy Parisians for its theaters, a casino and swimming pool. Castle des Egyu on the outskirts of the city considered among the European aristocracy, the most sophisticated venue for "seasons" in Etretat.

According to legend, in 1792 during a terrible storm that lasted days at a rock was thrown Swedish ship.
