Mkrtchyan, Levon Mkrtychevich - writer and critic. The literary name - Levon Mkrtchyan (Armenian Լեւոն Մկրտչյան, Eng. LM Mkrtchian, Levon Mkrtchian).

Levon Mkrtchyan Mkrtychevich (born in Glory March 2, 1933 - died August 22, 2001) - Armenian writer, literary critic, literary theorist of literary translation, Ph.D. (1971), Professor (1973), academician (1996), the founder and first rector Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) State University (1998-2001).

He studied at Batumi Naval School (1952-54). Honored Artist of Armenia, the painter, was born in 1909 in Yerevan. In the early 30's he graduated from art school and continued his artistic education in Leningrad during the Russian Academy of Arts and graduated in 1938. At the Academy he studied under Professor Osmerkin AA
    In 1939, upon returning to Yerevan, proceeded to active creative work, participated in republican, union and foreign exhibitions. He had solo exhibitions in Yerevan in 1948, 1959,1966,1981,1989 years. In 2004, in Yerevan him posthumous exhibition.
    Parallel creation taught at the Art College in Yerevan. Since the foundation of Yerevan Fine Arts and Theatre Institute is an associate professor and head of the department of painting until his retirement. During the years of teaching BA Kolozyan trained several generations of artists, among them many prominent artists of different nationalities.
    In the early 70-ies BA Kolozyan settled in the picturesque village of Sagmosavan, where the inspiration created more than 20 years, until the end of life. BA Kolozyan died in 1994 and was buried there in Sagmosavane.
    Kolozyan fruitfully worked in various genres: still life, landscape, portrait, rarely - composition. The works are made of various techniques - oil, tempera, watercolor, sanguine, pastel, pencil, charcoal. For landscapes characterized by trepidation and warmth. In the early 30's he graduated from art school and continued his artistic education in Leningrad during the Russian Academy of Arts and graduated in 1938. At the Academy he studied under Professor Osmerkin AA In 1939, upon returning to Yerevan, proceeded to active creative work, participated in republican, union and foreign exhibitions. He had solo exhibitions in Yerevan in 1948, 1959,1966,1981,1989 years. In 2004, in Yerevan him posthumous exhibition. Parallel creation taught at the Art College in Yerevan. Since the foundation of Yerevan Fine Arts and Theatre Institute is an associate professor and head of the department of painting until his retirement. During the years of teaching BA Kolozyan trained several generations of artists, among them many prominent artists of different nationalities. In the early 70-ies BA Kolozyan settled in the picturesque village of Sagmosavan, where the inspiration created more than 20 years, until the end of life. BA Kolozyan died in 1994 and was buried there in Sagmosavane. Kolozyan fruitfully worked in various genres: still life, landscape, portrait, rarely - composition. The works are made of various techniques - oil, tempera, watercolor, sanguine, pastel, pencil, charcoal. For landscapes characterized by trepidation and warmth. In the still lifes attracts vibrance of color, "personification" of fruits and flowers. Particularly famous Kolozyan Still life with grapes, in the image of which he considered to be a past master. In the last decade of life, the artist created a new kind of "Still Life", in which flowers are living in their natural environment, among grass and stones. Very accurate and character portraits, as well as a series of watercolors depicting animals and beasts. Thin and the mood of many urban landscapes made in Yerevan, St. Petersburg, Tallinn.
