Jan or Johan Barthold Yongkind (Johan Barthold Jongkind, 1819, Lattrop, Pays-Bas - 1891, Saint-Egrève, France) - Dutch painter and etcher who worked in France (in Paris and elsewhere), the second master Claude Monet.
Вложение 979111 Unlike the Impressionists Yongkind never wrote on the nature of the oil-based paints, only water-colors, which he then carefully copied in oils. Pictures Yongkinda: Последний раз редактировалось tchaika; 15.10.2010 в 16:33. |

"In art Yonkinda merged into a single unique fusion: the best tradition of Dutch landscape painters of the XVII century (especially Jacob van Ruisdael), in-depth study of native wildlife and achievements of French painters of the second half of XIX century."

In early 1862, after Claude Monet became seriously ill in Algeria, he was sent home to recover. Within six months, lasted until his recovery, he drew and wrote with renewed vigor. Seeing his perseverance, his father finally convinced that no force would break the young artist. The doctor warned that returning Monet in Africa can be fatal, and the end of the holiday my father decided to "buy" it. And again, Monet would work on the shore alone or in company Boudin. It so happened that at this time Yonkind also wrote in Le Havre. Monet considered it "dead for art," but with the help of some friends of artists (Brakmona, Bonview, Diaz, Corot, and with them Kalsa) returned to him self-confidence and willingness to work. An Englishman, who was watching Monet in the open air, it introduced Yonkindu, Monet, in turn, introduced his new friend Boudin.
Yonkind, who was forty years old, made a deep impression on Monet . Hilarious and at the same time melancholic, serious and humble, he spoke French, not only with a strong Dutch accent, but it is ignoring the rules of grammar and syntax. Tall, strong, lean man, awkward, like a sailor on land possessed by strange delusions of persecution, Yonkind felt at ease only when working or talking about art. Restless and unhappy life is not deprived him of any fresh vision, nor the true intuition. Like Boudin, he retained the immediacy of perception, and it helped him to resist dryness and training routine. For him, there were no other subjects, except for ever-changing forms of nature, which he turned his quick sketches, never repeating themselves, the nerve lines and glowing colorful spots. Stripped of serenity Boudin, he made a particle of self-excitation, an amazing element of emotion, perfectly combined with the naive eye, lyricism and soul calm courage of the mind. It is not surprising that Baudelaire drew his etchings, he admired them along with prints by Manet, Whistler and Merion in a group exhibition of Kadar's fall in 1862. Between Yonkindom, Monet and Budenny soon have warm, friendly relations. Subsequently, Monet recalled that Yonkind "wanted to look at my sketches, invited to work with him. Explained to me all sorts of" why and why "concerning his manners, and, thus, completed my education that I received from Boudin. From this time , he was my real teacher, I owe him the final formation of the eye ". Work Yonkinda "Town will complete in the Netherlands" ("Le Village de Doverschie en Hollande"), the Museum d'Orsay. Последний раз редактировалось tchaika; 16.10.2010 в 12:28. |

The Moscow State Museum of Fine Arts Pushkin kept two paintings Yongkinda. One of them - "Quay channel", written by the artist in 1869 (Kh /m. 0,41 X0, 65 cm). http://www.artis-museum.ru/IOGANN_BA...ya_kanala.html
"Unfortunately, watercolors Yongkinda not in Russian collections, they are concentrated mainly in the museums of France. He cherished his watercolors, often showing them to fellow artists, but did not dare to sell them. The true innovation of art Yongkinda was known to his friends as a painter, but the public has not been evaluated fully. " Последний раз редактировалось tchaika; 15.10.2010 в 16:55. |

Yonkind in 1836-1837 he studied at the Hague, in Andreas Shelfgau, the largest Dutch landscape painter of the time. "The early oil paintings and watercolors Yonkinda constitute full compliance with the canons of the Dutch landscape school."
After receiving a scholarship to study painting, he arrived in Paris in 1846 and stopped at: Boulevard Montparnasse, № 127. He exhibited at the Salon in 1852 and received a medal of the third degree. "Written in Paris during Yonkindom paintings suggest his familiarity with the work of Camille Corot and Richard Bonington." Discouraged by the Salon in 1855, he received no reward, and when faced with financial difficulties (stipend was discontinued), Yonkind left Paris. He returned to Holland and settled in Rotterdam. However, later he was able to come back to Paris. "By early 1850 the nineteenth century, watercolor painter first noticeable impressionist traits - lightening the palette of colors and specific coverage. In 1860 they are already committed impressionist paintings." Pictures Yonkinda (second teacher Claude Monet): - "Winter Scene", 1846, Gemeentemuseum, La Haye. - Dutch landscape. " - "The Harbour at Etretat, 1852, 103h68 see Kröller-Müller Museum, Otterlo, near the Netherlands. - "Flower Market on the Boulevard of Paris, 1855. - Sailing boats in Honfleur.
