Cherkassky Abram Markovich
[25.6 (7.7) .1886, White Church, 30.11.1967, Almaty], Soviet painter, People's Artist of the Kazakh SSR (1963). He studied at the Kiev Art School (1901-09) and AA Murashko and the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (1909-17) at N. Dubovsky, VE Savinskoye, J. F. Tsionglinskogo. One of the first in Ukraine turned to the subject of the life of the Soviet peasantry ("tractors", 1928, Museum of Ukrainian Art Ukrainian SSR, Kiev). From 1941 he worked in Kazakhstan. As a teacher (in 1941-58 he taught at the Art School. Gogol in Alma-Ata) and artist played an important role in the training of professional Kazakh artists. Among the students of St. Mambeev, K. Telzhanov etc. Author lyric and epic landscapes, often performed in an energetic, wide manner of writing, composition paintings, portraits ("People's Artist of the Kazakh SSR KU Bader", see fig.) still lifes. He was awarded the "Badge of Honor" and a medal.

Biography
Son Russified Baltic Germans, a veteran of the Crimean War, George Knight, cabinetmaker August Lyapsa and Ukrainian Maria Bondarenko. (My parents were not married: Lutheran Lyaps not want to move to Orthodoxy, and their children - a daughter and five sons - were her mother's name.)

It had a lithograph of his easel included in commemorative albums: the 100th anniversary of Pushkin's death ("Pushkin, Roma," 1937) and the 125th anniversary of Shevchenko ("Shevchenko in Orsk fortress", 1938).
Master of lyrical landscape: "Snow fell. Yard "(1937)," The ruins. Kharkiv "(1944)," Spring "(1944)," The River Tyasmin "(1944)," On the Dnieper "(1947)," Dnepr. Noon "(1948) - all in the technique autolithographies.
Member of the CCS from 1938 to 1945-69 years. taught at the Arts (from 1963 - Art and Industrial) Institute [5] (the professor). Among the most famous students - Vitaliy Kulikov [6], Vitaly Lenchin [7], Mr Nenad [8].
Almost all the papers of the pre-war deaths (looted) during the 1941-43 occupation of Kharkov.
Solo exhibitions: 1962, Kharkov Institute of Arts, 1974, Kharkov Art Museum.
His works are in the Kharkiv Art Museum, the National Art Museum of Ukraine (Kiev), etc.
