ranzher, I now feel like an examination of art criticism. To be more accurately - it is only a fragment of the original work (this has size 107h90 cm). I mentioned this on sewn canvas (the seam is visible from one side of the 1 /3 to 2 /3 on the other hand, in width. I also mentioned about poverty in 20 years, which experienced author and his family. Being in a stressful condition and able to some furious Burlyuk cut this work together with other huge canvases.
What motivates Burliuk at pictures of large format? He was new in the country, it was necessary to create something great. Regarding prices - up to you - work "In the Church" (see my thumbnail above) last year in London was sold about 650 thousand dollars. Japanese fisherman -542 thousand dollars. Radiostil - almost half a million. Painting and crafts - the same period, no less important, the museum's plan - the cost - 6-digit numbers. On your question if I knew where the work - yes, of course. In a private collection, but to disclose where and who will not. PS. There you have a special interest is to this work. There is a reason? "Little people" - the master of himself and his entire family. Group portrait in landscape.
Many, many years ago had a chance to look at these two pictures, as they say, alive. "Workers", is more accurately translated "laborers," ie, unskilled workers (labourers), then made a tremendous impression. This is - of course, a masterpiece, one of the best works produced by D. Burliuk for his life. Place this picture, no doubt, one of the major museums in the world next to the other geniuses of expressionism. The young gallery owner told me that the previous owner of the picture, refined aesthetic person, the holder of the best in Europe, collection of Russian avant-garde, supplying the major museums of the continent works of Jewish writers of the movement, specially went to Burlyuk to buy him something from this period. The artist could not offer, and gallery owner, resolutely refused to buy war crafts. Both were disappointed. Suddenly Burlyuk remembered that in the garage lies a canvas early 20-ies. After a while I called Alistair and said that he was ready to negotiate on the price of "Hardworking". To my surprise the picture was already sold. A year or two young gallery owner, and got rid of the "family portrait". Whoever the current owner of "Hardworking", as the French say, take off my hat, because he has an outstanding work of art.
