a terrible picture appears! Raphael in Urbino, I have not met.
Urbino - a unique, fully preserved since the Renaissance city - not for nothing is taken under the protection of UNESCO. In his appearance enough that recalls today. There is a feeling that we actually crossed the century and found themselves in the 15 th century, when Urbino briefly became one of the most brilliant artistic centers of the Italian Renaissance. Italy was at that time is fragmented into many city-states.
With Raphael's house (Casa Raffaello) best place to start a tour of Urbino. In the area of Borgo Mercatale, next to the bus station, take in the information center (Infopoint) map of the city. In the old city we go through the gate Porta Valbona and move up the wide Via Mazzini to the busy square Piazza della Repubblica.

Here, turn left and walk along the area of San Francesco in Via Raffaello. It is not easy to go to Urbino, quick step - because there is so beautiful! But if we want to get into the house of Raphael, in a hurry: from 13 to 15 hours in the museum break.

Raphael House with a plaque.
In this house, Rafael was born on April 6, 1483, here he lived in his childhood. Father, the Duke of Urbino court painter, Giovanni Santi, was his first teacher.

The museum contains many items of genuine 15 th century, are paintings by Giovanni Santi, who was a good teacher and a caring father, but, as we can see, a mediocre artist. Perhaps the most interesting is that you can see in this vast museum - Youth work
Raphael, the first of his "Madonna". After touring the museum will go up Via Raffaello to the monument to Raphael (1897) Some pompous monument wins thanks to its location: on three sides by splendid views of the mountains. However, in regard to the beautiful views, Urbino is inexhaustible. And the most spectacular of which we enjoy, if we go from the monument to Rafael along the fortress wall on the north-west, parallel to Viale Buozzi.

On the area of Borgo Mercatale, next to the bus station, take in the information center (Infopoint) map of the city ....
I have not heard of such a description of a small town where I spent two days and which was based on the length and breadth. I am afraid that such a path will not be the most convenient and sensible. This is the city of Urbino. Oh how many times told the world ...

When I traveled to Italy, in my hands was a guidebook publisher "Around the World" (edition 3). In every city where I was, I found a few errors and typos. Even in a city of mass tourists visiting Russia's Rimini!
Alas, this sin all guides for all countries. Including imports, the old well-known brands - in this I saw in Cambodia. Upon arrival in Russia, I turned to publishing "Around the World" and helped them fix guide. Alas, my affect the nature of expertise. Now on sale you can meet new edition (4th revised). I am proud of the fact that it was able to fix a few mistakes.

So write and quote about Urbino could only person who has never been in this city. Most Russian translations sin plenty of mistakes. Errors also arise after editorial changes to the original source when sometimes thrown out and reduced whole paragraphs without looking. Errors Western authors translation errors errors editor=eventually arises hodgepodge and confusion. What can we say about the internet publication which completely do not check the information before you post!

Displaying more photos Montefeltro. The city of Urbino, they are irrelevant. But what a beauty! Immediately you want to become an artist! Well, at least photo-artist ...

Palazzo Ducale like a fortress, where in case of danger can hide the entire population of the city, and at the same time there are no medieval harshness and heaviness - it is lightweight, slender, elegant. We do not just see the panorama of the palace, walking on Urbino, and always will look slightly different.
Construction and interior Palazzo Ducale lasted about 70 years. We know that Urbino at the time he visited Leon Battista Alberti - a recognized master, theoretician of architecture of the Renaissance.
Alberti's ideas were used in the construction of the palace, which since 1468 led Luciano Laurana. He has developed a unique plan's scheme, harmoniously combining existing and new buildings. The main creation Laurana was "tower facade" --
Facciata dei Torricini - with elegant loggias and strange, like the Muslim minarets, and towers. This architect also belong to the draft courtyard, of which we speak later, and the grand staircase. In 1472 the architect leaves his post, and in his place Duke invites other great masters - Francesco di Giorgio Martini. Its merits include the sumptuous decoration of palace interiors.

In the art gallery and the palace are not all the treasures collected in his time da Montefeltro dukes and their heirs of the genus della Rovere. In 1631 Urbino became part of the Papal States.

Finally, after two centuries of waiting, coveted collection of "vanity Urbino" passed into the possession of the Vatican! Of the duke's palace in Rome and Florence were taken all that can be: not only paintings, tapestries, a library, but even the fragments of decoration
interior - doors, walls, fireplaces. However, despite such a sad ending stories of the Duchy of Urbino, in the palace, and today there are many interesting things. Those who visit in Urbino in the year, especially lucky: they will be able to view not only rich in the National Gallery of Marche Region (Galleria Nazionale delle Marche), but again restored rooms of the palace.

Especially good small cabinet Duke - Studiolo, decorated with inlays. Of the pieces of precious wood with amazing skill lined books, musical instruments, armor, tools, astrologer, and "Geometry".
In the picture gallery back many works from the collection of the Duke, and some of the paintings were donated to other museums of Urbino. Thus, the pride of the collection - a female portrait by Rafael «La Muta» ( «Silent") - was donated to the Uffizi Gallery, where he was kept for several centuries.
Founded in 1507, this portrait, Raphael came in a creative dialogue with the Leonardo da Vinci, who in 1503 wrote about his "Mona Lisa". Rafael consciously repeats the pose of a woman: hands "Dumb" are composed of exactly the same as that of the Mona Lisa.
Closely Leonardo and the type of model - not very young and very beautiful lady with a large intelligent face, which is a kind of elusive magic. Lips "Dumb" tightly together, they are not touched dzhokondovskaya
smile, but his eyes, staring, and lively, just watching the audience, just do not want to "let go", as the Mona Lisa's eyes.
Do not miss the work of major artists of the Renaissance, and especially unusual fabric Piero della Francesca "Castigate Christ» (ca. 1455).
Scene of flagellation were pushed to the depths of the canvas, and in the foreground we see a beautiful architectural composition, which seemed to live the spirit of Urbino Palace.

Palazzo Ducale is like a fortress, where in case of danger can hide the entire population of the city, and at the same time there are no medieval harshness and heaviness - it is lightweight, slender and elegant. We do not just see the panorama of the palace, walking on Urbino, and always will look slightly different.
Indeed, the Palazzo Ducale will always be other than the flows from guidebooks. Walking through the narrow streets of Urbino, it is impossible to see the panorama of the palace, which is one of the biggest and tallest buildings in the city. The truth - which side to watch. This can be seen from my photos. Moreover, it can be really good to see with only three places in the city. Even with the highest point of the city (inner bastion on the hill) - you can not see a panorama of the palace (that is broad enough view of 180 degrees so, and obviously it was not a bottom-up), but only a side view. And this photo I also previously lecturing.
The phrase that the palace is stilizitsiey a fortress - a sentence of a man who remembered him only with the most spectacular side (this is a very small part of the palace), as shown in my photo with the highest point on the inner bastion. Yes, pastiche - but only from the outside - look at the big windows and balconies. On the inner side of the city (Piazza Duca Federico and adjacent area Rinashimento) - today the palace is more like a massive and squat house. Here he is on the photo - see the left a long three-storey house.

PS
In the guidebook "Around the World" I corrected, for example, this gem: "A few kilometers from Urbino, offers spectacular views of the city from above: it seems that it is set for a medieval play."
Yes! Something like that, as they approached the house I went off the hat. "
Like any medieval fortress city of Urbino is situated on a huge hill (mountain). And in it you enter the road-serpentine, bottom-up. No other. Well here you can see the top view? If only from a helicopter .... This gem is not in the 4th edition of the guidebook.

Vladimir, I hope for your visual memory.
Not if you have seen this work in an art museum village Voronovo?

"The spill on the river Vaško." c /m 39 x 70
I apologize for the long answer - in my village, the third day, almost no working mobile Internet.
I do not remember such a picture in a museum in Voronovo. But I could be wrong.
According to information, the museum came from a private collection, which consists of thousands of items. We put up a few hundred in a small building of the old school. All decent and clean, well-groomed area. But I had the idea that all the best from the collection have already sold - so the low level hudozhenstvenny painting was exhibited. Artist Stozharau with a big enough picture clearly stand out on a poor background. But I do not remember.

As a result, I came to the conclusion that the level of these museums enough nevysko.
"And I saw an elephant? What is in sight!
I suppose, you thought that the mountain met? "--
"But is he there?" - "There" .- "Well, brother, sorry:
Elephant's something I did not notice ".
