Around 1187, trying to gain recognition of the church, the Order adopted the charter and structure of the Order of Calatrava, and became known as the Evora Police Order of Calatrava.

Castile Military Order of Calatrava was founded by King Sancho III of Castile, gave the town of Calatrava, abandoned by the Knights Templars, the knight of San Raimundo de Fitero and his brothers have formed militias to protect Calatrava from the Moors.

New Order was utvezhden papal bull of Alexander III in 1164 and adopted the charter Cistercian Order.
