In 1961, the artists have prepared a sketch of the panorama "The defeat of German forces at Stalingrad," the size of a third of original size. From the middle of April 1981 authors began work for the establishment of objective plan, which lasted about six months. In the spring of 1982 the creation of panoramas was completed. Panorama area of ​​2000 square meters. it became the largest art-piece of Russia, one of the largest in the world panorama, which remains the only one written on the theme of the Great Patriotic War.
