Default Auction "Golden Section", Kiev

Last Sunday took place in Kiev next auction Golden Ratio, which specializes in works of Soviet and modern periods. At auction selling out OK. 30 works. Crisis. And the collection is weak, IMHO.

You'll laugh, but at the previous auction with the same sales price was much higher. A total of auctions in Kyiv already a dozen in a season. This fall, for example - seven. Followed with a break in a month - December. Solid opening days, in general. What happened was because the market in Kiev (just and only - Kiev, not Ukrainian) was filled with "easy" money. Quickly wealthy people durel from excess cash and bought on a wave of consumer Jora indiscriminately all in a row in one row - cars, watches, cufflinks, painting, then again, cufflinks, watches, cars. We all want to sell something with fright. And then the market has shown its real "power" - the rational demand for all this - no. That is why so sour at the auctions.

Oil - is not all. Metallurgical raw materials, production of steel and alloys, coal, financial fraud, corruption - generic and still generates a lot of money. Scale is not Russia's, of course, but to shake microscopic in fact antique market enough. How many auctions I have ever seen, as the aunt (uncle somehow calmer behave) were cut with each other, turning in front of the sample arts and crafts in the "price" a masterpiece, and raised prices 10 times purely on emotion. One izvestanya in our village, the super-rich heiress somehow even let's yell at the hall to its competitor on tenders - die, I'll buy it for any money, blah! Local auctioneers such pray for, of course. And so, on the part - a kind of rot. What kind of rational investment, when the success or failure of bidding on 75%depends on the mood of aunts. Now that's the mood there, and all in Downey. Maybe the new year will see :-)

So it is important-a trend that is driven by the buyer, you need ...
Money-most important thing in art business, however, as in any.

I was just about "pictures and sales, said. The most interesting thing on the Kiev market, what with the painting becomes like a new car - made to work with the auction or from the gallery and did not sell even at half price :-)
As someone who regularly goes to all auctions, communicates with a bunch of dealers and gallery owners, and regularly buys something, responsibly declare - the market of Ukraine is not ready to work as an investment environment. Decay prevail. The "rot" I understand:
1. Syndrome pouring beginners. Explained simply - every new person with the money is perceived by dealers as a goof, which have fused their fervor slag. Called services to create collections - it is messy to complete check. Very many novice buyers of such an approach poisons and discourages - people will buy something, then will understand, quarreling, or just quietly spit on all this - and forget the way to the art market.
2. Lack of coordination among market participants. At various auctions of the same author, the work of the same level can be from the start, razlichayuschimiya in two or more times. On price indices in this case, however.
3. The low level of decency sellers and low price reputation - mass sale falshakov - it's just a whip and auctions and dealers. Again, so - trivial calculation for the rich Loja, which will not go double-check the work of the improvised art galleries or auction catalog.
With the market good? Lots of good art for every taste and purse Painting exists independent of whether it needs someone or not, and the glory of God. Ukraine - a picturesque country. Well, normal people have of course, their market and should be structured once, on the idea :-) Theoretically, because the self-regulating market and everything that goes wrong itself will wither away as time progresses.
