So, Paul, let us understand.
Drouot-Montaigne (Drouot-Montaigne - named so because it is located on Avenue Montaigne, French philosopher of XVI century) - this place, where the most prestigious auction. I wrote about it on the previous page. Bottom link is at the Hotel Drouot (Hôtel Drouot) near the Grands Boulevards.

I am an artist and I am interested in this point of view, the picture should not be in the shops if the artist is serious work, I mean not only themselves. It is ridiculous when there are pictures of academician penny.
Sotheby's seems to me muhlyuet prices, so Acuna rightly discarded the upper and lower price
Auction Houses are mainly dealing with the secondary market, rather than primary. The works made by artists who are - in the eyes - no more than 1%. Auction houses do not take the work of artists who are no solid quotes, and it is quite understandable and correct. So the sequence is as follows: first gallery, then have an auction.
In general, you do not feel that you are somewhat fixed at the auction houses? I assure you, this is not a panacea. Akun also not a panacea

I never heard of Miles, you can talk about it a little bit?
Still, I do not know any "big western collection", which would be recharged by Soviet academicians. Do you have any details? It would be interesting to know them.

In the "Destination Art" (or something like that, do not remember exactly) is a branch devoted to the Second School of Paris - I myself it there ran a few months ago.
On the first school in Paris, too, the forum is enough to write (branch Soutine, pediment, in my opinion, wrote about Kikoin, etc.)

But if you know exactly what the French do not accept the term "School of Paris", then say no. While enough to see your beloved Acuna, who, as well as 100%for other gallery owners, auctioneers and art, uses this term to describe the artist (Soutine, Chagall, Kikoin, Flint, Paskin, Fujita, Bonnard, Byuyar and many others -- 1-st School of Paris, de Stael, Polyakov, Lanskoy, Sarsuns and many others - 2nd School of Paris).

Bonsoir pm lsr.To that I know I learned from those books that you read in Russian. In Paris the last time I was in 1994godu. Auction-Hotel Drouot, I meant that which is located next to the boulevard Montmart. I liked his accessibility is just what we came by.Iz history of Impressionism, I know about their attempts to sell paintings at Drouot-unsuccessful. It's not that, but the fact that the auction provides an opportunity to sell, and thus save many prizvedeniya art interests me is the lowest link in the rest prilozhetsya.
Dealers I have in mind such as Varshakova, Boldyreva and others, and generally is not it funny when the Russian artist sells a collection of Russian Artists Russian millionaires in the English auction. Anecdote.
Miles-known London gallerist. Others do not know, but judging by the fact that they are not all sold abroad, the output when prices jump we find out where. The Paris School debate about the fact that while people from Russia primarily because of Jewish nationality in imperial Russia was a requirement for education and Chagall could not postutit the Academy had come from almost all countries in the world and that's when the influence of the great French school of painting, which was parallel to the academic and led through the impressionists, post., Matisse. Picasso, etc. to contemporary art and the school are all well-known artists of the world an example of David Hockney.
Impressionists made their way to a great extent because it appeared Hotel Drouot and allowed to raise prices and pictures, and raises so far. When they say a picture is worth state-this means that it can be expensive to sell at auction.

Drouot, which is at the Boulevard Montmartre, it does not Drouot-Montel, but in the end, it does not matter.
You have to understand one thing: the Hotel Drouot is not a charitable enterprise, auctioneers live on the commissions they receive from sales. In order to put things on sale, they must have at least an approximate idea of its price. Need quotation needed precedents of gallery sales, you need a list of exhibitions, etc. That is art without quotes auction houses do not take - simply can not afford.

Who sold abroad? This has been reiterated in this forum (it should be noted that as a rule, the case ended in a swearing): Soviet academics abroad do not cause the slightest interest.

Yes. No, I absolutely did not understand from your last paragraph.

This is my contribution on the theme of auction houses and the School of Paris ends, I squeezed myself completely from all the arguments that I had. Convincing or not, do not judge me

See art by David Hockney-like any artist, he passes the stages of infatuation, or the influence of different artists Van Gogh and Matisse, etc. and does it brilliantly.
You are right in many respects, but agree the price set for auction and bought at the auction gallery owners sometimes under the order, Iya know reservation at Acuna on the difference in prices at the auction and the gallery. I see no problem in the Drouot auction, and in the absence of such an auction in Moscow.

David Hockney course, I know. This is a very good artist. I just do not understand how it relates to the controversy surrounding the term "Paris School" (which to me, despite all my erudition, absolutely nothing is known).

Almost every famous artist goes through the school different influences, mainly French artists of the late 19 early 20 centuries. This is evident even in the photo you submit. Individual strengths of the artist allows him to make this obogoschenie their individuality, the artist remains weak epigonom.Eto is a French school, which in Paris. Remember Van Gogh, which he did with the neo-impresionistskim influence. So David Hockney under the influence tion fr. school makes shedevry David Hockney.
Akun-directory, the directory does not love and respect for the fact that he is the best. Uncle Akoon brilliantly used his place of work, a brilliant man.
Do not prompt, in the street. Damremo have artists' studios say free?
If you believe that I hope to sell through the auction itself expensive, there is no such thought-bought paintings can sell them to bail out their money, which we now have in Russia is not possible, I understand how difficult it is to understand the normal person. Suppose I have a picture worth 1000000dol. I can not sell it to get At least that money.
You know there is a time Drouot artist's studio. Then carry this workshop popereferii until everything is sold. We make it easier-all except the tsenogo thrown in the trash-sketches sketches in luchshe if stolen. That can save from this auction.
