No, Jura, a sum not negligible when compared with the list of purchases for 1915 or 1916, placed Raskatova (which, take this opportunity to thank for his very interesting communication) in another plot. The total amount appropriated for the acquisition - 15000 rub., The most expensive purchase - Kustodiyev (who outdid Repin and someone else of the giants) - 1750 pp. (all from memory, but I think that if wrong, it is insignificant).

It is simply another Reaffirmation that the "modern art is always overestimated compared with the old," as stated in one of my translated articles on the art market

If you start from the price of bread, the price of 1 pound of white bread in Petrograd in 1907 was 4.2 kopecks. So for 100 rubles could buy 2380 loaves. If you currently take a minimum of 400 grams = 13 rubles., Then it means those 100 rubles. equal to 30940 rubles. now. Although I do not know how justified such a comparison. Here's another: daily wage mason 1.39 p. .. 100 rub. a 72-day work of a mason. How now receives a mason?

Liana, it was Russia's troubled times. Since 1914, nachala First World War, in Russia, money devalued, was inflation.

"The most intense spiral of high prices has become twisted by the winter 1915-1916 he
At the end of 1916 from 2.44 million workers employed in industry, 86 percent worked in the army.
Food production fell in 1916 to 89, textiles - up to 84 and 59 percent respectively.
Thus in 1916 the average nominal wage worker equaled 478 rubles., Real - 210 rubles. "

Performing some simple calculations according to the DSF, now it should cost 1 547 000 rubles, or 44 607 dollars on today's rate.

The total amount appropriated for the acquisition - 15000 p =4 641 000 rubles. = 133 823 USD
