Burov FE (1843-1895)

Muscovite by birth, FE Burov the last ten years of life lived in Samara, where he was so necessary for Russia all the time in educational activities in the field of culture and education. He created in Samara school of painting and drawing, which successfully worked for five years and closed with the death of its founder.

Sam FE Burov was a strong painter. He studied at the Art Academy from 1859 to 1869, where his progress from year to year can be schematically represented as follows: in 1863, received a small silver medal and in 1865 awarded a freelance artist and has been awarded a large silver medal in 1866 - a small silver medal in the 1867 -- a large silver medal. Artist drawn to books and historical subjects, so many of his works were a kind of large illustrations to editions of the time, illuminating national history. Receiving in 1873 the title of class artist of the second degree, FE Burov prepared for the 1885 painting "Shlisselburgsky Prisoner" (the novel by GP Danilevskii Mirovich, for which he was awarded the title of class artist of the first degree. By this time the artist was well known for the exhibitions were exhibited at the academic work: A scene in prison (1870) ( the novel by A. Tolstoy Silver Prince), Porter (1872), Turk (1873), Emperor Peter I visited in a cell of the fortress of Prince Gagarin St. Matthew (1880), etc. He turned painter, and to historical events, contemporary with whom he was. spoof called "scene from the Bulgarian-Turkish war, the artist, unfortunately, failed to finish.

Among the pupils at the school FE Burov in Samara were and talented students, among them - Kuzma Sergeevich Petrov-Vodkin, Konstantin Gorbatov, Vasily F. Orekhov.
