Died Vladimir Ovchinnikov... a Wonderful artist, honest, noble man. Completely separate, not subject to collective passions... He already entered the history of St. Petersburg art, none of the exhibitions was not without his works - well-crafted, with built-in inside the expanded narrative, like easy reads, but really elusive, developing yourself, open fully for some other, better than we, the viewer. To stand out are accustomed, his thick faceted men with metal, maleficence, color resolution, literally "included in every home". To stand out are used so that you saw his presence in our art for granted: not particularly interested in how he lives, what suffers. He, with his prestaties to our regular heroes, will be... As it usually happens with the hidden people, Ovchinnikov never translated the conversation to himself, not to mention self-presentation: no PR, no mass media hype. Ovchinnikov was sure: his characters speak for themselves, everyone will understand what happens to them. And nothing particularly good with them not occurred: humane and independent inhabitants alien Soviet world, the angels, the homeless, the disabled, the dreamers, the outsiders, they are in new times felt in an increasingly tough and alienated reality. In this respect he was not Russian Botero : the heroes of the last stable in their attitudes and Outlook. Ovchinnikovskaya same - restless and unsatisfied. And more mud in itself. As their Creator. Farewell, Vladimir Afanasyevich!
