Default Found a stolen painting by Lucas Cranach the Elder

Norwegian police found the stolen March 8 from a church in Larvik in the south-west of the country now the XVI century and detained 50-year-old man suspected of theft, a police spokesman said Magnar Pedersen.
Earlier on Wednesday, Agence France-Presse has reported the detention of a suspect in the theft of unique antique paintings. "With great pleasure we announce that the painting is in good hands," - said Pedersen told reporters.
No other details about the theft of the police have not yet reported, citing the fact that the investigation is not over. It is known that the detainees - previously convicted resident of Larvik, reports "Vesti".
Painting brush German Renaissance artist Lucas Cranach the Elder, written on a piece of wood meter-square, depicts Jesus surrounded by children. The work, entitled "Let the children come unto me" was in the church since its opening in 1677. Work of art was stolen from the Church of Larvik.
The cost of the stolen paintings, which was not insured, is estimated at 2,4 million euros. Since the beginning of the Norwegian police investigation stemmed from the fact that to sell such well-known work on the market without special knowledge will be difficult. It is not excluded that the robbery had been registered.
On Tuesday, it was even announced compensation of 500 thousand Norwegian kroner for information on the whereabouts of the paintings or the persons related to her disappearance.
