Default VV Vereshchagin, and writing the manuscript of Napoleon

Vasily Vereshchagin (1842-1904).

1) The accompanying note to the figure of the head of Napoleon I for the magazine «L'Artiste». [March 1897]. Autograph. 2. in-8 (the second page - see photo). In French. At the top of the author's pagination "2." The second sheet of the two (the first was not preserved). Translation: "I am accused, I 2) blackened (hereinafter underscore Vereshchagin. - Homoludens) great man. But can we really believe that he was not cruel in the full sense of the word? 3) Letter from the same destination. Moscow, March 10, 1897 Autograph. 1. in-8 (fragment letters - see photo), the envelope with stamps and postmarks. In French. Translation: "Moscow, March 10, 1897 Malostivy sir! I sent you a picture of the head of Napoleon I in a fur coat and felt hat. Be so kind as to send me the magazine «L'Artiste», in which he will be released. I enclose a few lines, which can be accompanied by a drawing, if they present you interesting. Just make sure, please, that there was no proof-reading errors. With respect to you, sir, Vereshchagin. "

All three in excellent condition (the second letter - fox spots). Are in Kiev, sold together. Price $ 1,500.

Although the price and so , in my view , reasonable - at $ 550 per document. A one- and far less interesting letter Vereshchagin was sold several years ago to " Gelos " expensive.
As for Vereschaginskiy figure , the art collection J. Albuaza , formed , in particular, are reproduced in the magazine «L'Artiste», was after his death, in 1904, sold at auction in Paris.
