" Intermuseum " - the main event of the year for all museums in Russia , which is held for 12 years . The mission of the project - promoting the development of museums in Russia , CIS and the world as a cultural phenomenon of the XXI century , the accumulation of positive experiences and achievements , enhancing the role of Russian museums in the world museum community , the revitalization of the young professionals in Russia and CIS , strengthening common cultural space.
This year, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation decided to upgrade the project with access to the international level , involving the world's museum community and the acquisition of the status of the international festival . Thanks to this " Intermuseum 2011 " would have several important features that distinguish it from the events of previous years .

The festival will be held under the motto " cultural space - a space of confidence . " As part of the main exhibition - " Dialogue of cultures in space " - will be presented more than 120 museums, including the largest museums in Russia and CIS countries .
