Default Exhibition Van Gogh and Monticelli in Marseille

I was very pleased to translate this text, and I am glad that I can tell you about this show, because, in my opinion, Monticelli - a wonderful artist and very undervalued. Let's hope that after this show interest in him grow, as he deserves.
I will definitely go see it.

From 16 th September 2009 to 11 th January 2009 in Marseille, will open an exhibition which will present 18 canvases of Van Gogh, as well as works by the artist, whose exhibition organizers call it "art teacher" - Adolphe Monticelli.

«To talk about that, Monticelli was a teacher of Van Gogh, it would be wrong, but it can without any doubt be considered a mentor of Van Gogh", - explains Marie-Paule Vial, director of the museums of Marseilles.

The exhibition will open in a room Vieille Charité, building of XVIII century, built a shelter for the poor, which is now a cultural center. The idea of it came from holders under the influence of reading the correspondence of Van Gogh (1953-1890) with his brother, in which the artist speaks about his creative affinity with Monticelli (1824-1886).

For example, here is what he wrote in a letter: "I am confident that continuing his work as if I was his son or brother /.../, it became my goal, I live his life, I'm dying to death.

In another letter, he shared his admiration: "When will my friend, Gauguin, and together we shall go to Marseilles, I was determined to go for a walk on Kanber (the old quarter of Marseille), dressed exactly as Monticelli in the portrait, which I have seen - in huge yellow hat, a coat of black velvet, white pants, yellow gloves, with a bamboo cane - the stately and a little arrogant, like a true Southerner ... "

Van Gogh had never met Monticelli, artist, famous in Provence, but little known outside it. He discovered the work of Monticelli after his arrival in Paris in 1886, organizers of the exhibition say that the style of Monticello, in particular, his work with color and with light, have played an important role in the desire to go to the Van Gogh in Provence.

"In this exhibition we will show works of two artists with an extraordinary destiny. Until now, their works have not been compared and shown together. But Van Gogh valued the work of Monticelli, and I am delighted that this exhibition will provide an opportunity to evaluate the art of color and texture of Monticelli, "- said Thomas Grenon, general administrator of the Office of National Museums, which is involved in organizing this exhibition.

One of the goals of the exhibition - the identification of the proximity between these artists. "Pictures at an exhibition will be hung by genres: landscape, portrait, still life with flowers. In landscapes and still lifes seen remarkable closeness ", - said Ms. Vial.

Van Gogh's paintings were given to the exhibition the Museum d'Orsay, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and New York subway.

It is expected that this exhibition will visit no less than 200,000 viewers.

Thank you. Always something interesting.
But Van Gogh's still better.
Since Van Gogh was my curious incident. I did a little sketch, and somehow my friend, is very enthusiastic about their garden plots (landshafny design and so on). Called our family on a visit to the country, and the question about the program and the other guests (a very gosteobilnaya). She said that no one will, and if I do not mind then we will paint the gate. And how to paint? Yes as you like, you're an artist: p. I thought, and decided to draw her a picture of Van Gogh's "Sunflowers". He got a book with reproductions, and began to study seriously and to try on. For this I found the eldest son, then he was seven /eight. Began asking about the artist. I told him and about the future and about prices. And the price for this painting, which will draw on the gate. How much impressed I saw the next day. On his desk, drawing a lot of "Sunflowers".
The first time read and studied the entire book himself, and decided, perhaps, that so too will. He took it to the museum - was impressed, particularly cubism. So unexpected son accustomed to a high art.

It is interesting that a similar initiation through Van Gogh's happened to my son! Being with him and his friend in Pushkin (of the same seven \ eight years), standing in front of Van Gogh told his fate \ price "(at that time," Sunflowers "was a record auction sales), saw that it was nekotorych way shock for them. A couple of months, he requested permission to watch oche late start thin-tion film on Van Goga, a couple of years he gave me for my birthday two volumes of correspondence of Van Gogh and his brother. After another couple of years, his idol was Andy Warhol. In short, now I had to learn many new and interesting!
Can parents take this on board?
Liana, if you do photo report ..! I'd like to see!
Welcome to Provence! Was even in Arles, could not attend, sit in cafes Vangogovskih. Incidentally, the Air Force is a short film "Arles, van Gogh's birthplace, with his own eyes, I thought my roof has gone!

Konstantin:
I'm not saying that Van Gogh Monticelli better, I say that this is a wonderful artist who is not forgotten, of course, but somehow overwritten on the second or even third place, and it is unfair.
That is, in my opinion, this is just the case when an artist who has worked more than 100 years ago, needs to be "open".
Such things have happened, but usually they are not particularly convincing. For example, recently brought to light the sculptor Camille Claudel - pupil and mistress of Rodin, Claudel and her sister - but I think the motives for this "discovery" were mostly extraordinarily romantic its history, relationship with the famous and fashionable writer and a pretty face .

P.S. Reproductions very bad pass Monticelli, because his work is very important texture, it's very Thickly pained painting with a shimmering and iridescent, the precious surface.

Galia:
No, this film I have not. Moreover, I have no TV, and your computer, I "tore language, throwing columns choby he does not irritate me with all sorts of extraneous sounds barbaric

Photo problematic, because my photographic abilities more than limited. But I bought the catalog and scan it - this is the simplest solution.
