gans when I first saw pictures of the Lowry me they too seemed sad, but when you start to consider the details, they come alive.
Despite the fact that Lowry called himself a "simple man" he was interested in the main currents in the art of the 20 th century, in an interview with Mervyn Levy, he said that he admired the works of Rene Magritte, and Lucian Freud, but said that does not understand the work of Francis Bacon.
