2009-th by UNESCO declared the year of Mary Prymachenko.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine has introduced the highest distinction in the creative industry Folk Art of Ukraine - Award for Mary Prymachenko.

The prize marked highly of folk art, which are the most outstanding property of the Ukrainian people, enrich his historical memory, national consciousness and identity.

The works should be displayed at exhibitions only during the last three years but not later than three months prior to their nomination to receive the Prize, have positive reviews in the literature of art criticism and reviews in the media.

Creative groups nominated for the Prize can not be more than three persons. Not allowed the inclusion in the community of applicants who fulfill the administrative, organizational or advisory functions. Self nominations for the Prize, as well as the simultaneous nomination of one and the same work on behalf of Mary Prymachenko Award and other awards are not allowed.

In the month of December each year, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the National Union of Folk Art of Ukraine will organize an exhibition of works of the laureates.

Also, the Prize may be awarded posthumously. (c)
