Default Filonov Paul
January 20, 1883, 125 years ago, was born Pavel Filonov (1883 - 03.12.1941), Russian artist, poet, art theorist, one of the leaders of the Russian artistic avant-garde of the first half of the twentieth century.
One of my favorite artists. In his work you can watch forever!

The most striking thing that a man of such immense talent sincerely believed that all his works should remain his wonderful country. At that time, as in the USSR was a struggle with the avant-garde and prochemi formalists, he created his brilliant works, flatly refusing to sell anything. Not having any show, no recognition, no money, he was absolutely sure that his descendants will appreciate. And so he died of hunger in this confidence.

Today, well aware that in private collections there are only 42risunka Filonov.

And why is it amazing? As he left, so we left it in Russia? He loved his homeland and wanted to be brilliant, philosophical, profound works left to us, their descendants. And it would be if everything was taken, or even part, we would have lost this invaluable, yet still not understood until the end ...

Yes, we could lose ... would be burned down in the late 40's and early 50's, during the struggle against formalism and did not know b Filonova ... As we do not know, I'm sure many things Malevich, Popova, Rozanova ... Cluny, yes the same Matyushina with Guro!
