Gandzasar (Armenian Գանձասար, Board to. "Mountain of treasure", Gandzasar Monastery, Monastery Gandzasar) - an outstanding monument of Armenian culture working monastery, the Armenian Apostolic Church, located on the left bank of the river Hachinchay, near the village of Vank in Nagorno Karabahe.Soglasno legend, in the crypt of the temple Herod is buried severed head of John the Baptist, brought here from Castres during one of the crusades, because of which the church was named St. Hovhannes Mkrtich (St. John the Baptist). The construction of the temple were built from 1216 to 1238, as reported to the grave plate Hasan Jalal. This also shows the inscription, preserved in the monastery of the font.
