April 6, 1969 in the Louvre with the participation of the French National Legion solemnly opened a personal exhibition of the great self-taught.
The exhibition was opened by French Culture Minister Andre Malraux. He said: "The exhibition Pirosmani in Paris - an event in the life of modern European art." The opening was attended by French Foreign Minister Michel Debré, Louis Aragon (one of the initiators of the exhibition), Elsa Triolet, Jacques Prévert, Armand Lanoue, Soviet Foreign Minister Gromyko Nicholas and others. The French press is one and a half months of extensive coverage of this exhibition. Pirosmani compared with Giotto, whose name is associated the beginning of the Renaissance in Italy, he placed above the French primitivist Henri Rousseau. Long before, as if foreseeing the success of the exhibition Pirosmani in the Louvre, Ilya Ehrenburg wrote: "The walls are covered with paintings Tiflis dukhans Pirosmanashvili, unknown artist here, which could shake up plenty of skeptical Paris. http://magazines.russ.ru/slovo/2006/53/ko29.html The photo L.YU.B. against the background of one of the 200 extant works of the Georgian primitivist. |
